Hi again, I'm still Constance.

I’m a senior at Dartmouth College studying Cognitive Science, Human-Centered Design, and Sociology. I’m also a designer passionate about the intersection of ethics, AI, education, and design for good.

Passions & interests

At Dartmouth, I'm studying Cognitive Science with a focus in Human-Centered AI and Computational Cognitive Processes (a focus area I created and petitioned myself! I'm still in the process of petitioning it for the greater Dartmouth community). With this academic background, I have a rich understanding of neuroscience, psychology, computer science, philosophy, linguistics, and data analysis.

When I’m not designing or studying, I love making music! Whether it be singing with my a cappella group, arranging songs for us to perform, jamming out on my guitar, or listening to all sorts of music, I find myself drawn to rhythm. Recently, my a cappella group has performed in L.A., San Francisco, and Toronto!

I also love learning and teaching. I think it’s important to keep learning and growing, and I always try to share the knowledge I’ve gained. This winter, I co-created and co-led an educational mini-series on the psychology of design to a cohort of 20 undergraduate Dartmouth students. I also acted as a mentor for Design Corps, a student group of service designers tackling local challenges.

Languages are another one of my passions and key aspect of my identity. Due to my multicultural background, I have a knack for languages — I’m fluent in English, Mandarin, and French and have working proficiency in Spanish and Italian!

Recently, I've also fallen in love with climbing — I love how simple it is. You leave behind the stress of day-to-day life for a new type of "problem" with just climbing shoes, chalk, technique, strength, and sometimes a little extra creativity. It's a different way of problem-solving. And you get to hang out with your friends outdoors!

This was the first time I climbed outdoors!
(I usually boulder indoors)

Lastly, I love to cook! During the first big COVID-19 outbreak, I found myself trying out all sorts of recipes and baking little treats on the daily. I loved it so much that I cooked dinner for my entire family almost every night that summer.

How I work

I thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments, and I have a natural ability to build relationships and continuously learn wherever I go!

While I have experience in product, service, graphic, UI, and UX design, my favorite part of the process is definitely user research — I love empathizing with different users and really getting to the root of their problem. This passion also extends into comparative human and AI cognitive research!

My major in Cognitive Science gives me a rich understanding of neuroscience, psychology, computer science, philosophy, and linguistics, which I take full advantage of when creating anything.

Also, my interests in AI, education, and design ethics continuously inspire my work. Having a multicultural background helps too :)
